U.C. DAVIS ART HISTORY MAJOR, ARCHITECTURAL EMPHASIS

(a total of 56 units is required for the major)

LOWER DIVISION COURSES--12 units

    Three of the following:

    AHI 1A Ancient Art
    AHI 1B Medieval and Renaissance Art
    AHI 1C Baroque to Modern Art
    AHI 1D Asian Art
    AHI 25 Introduction to Architectural History


    ART STUDIO COURSES--8 units

    One course in a 2-dimensional medium (drawing, painting, printmaking, photography) and one course in a 3-dimensional medium (sculpture, ceramics). Upper and lower division courses are acceptable. The following are offered without prerequisite:

      ART 2 Drawing I (offered every quarter)
      ART 16 Descriptive Drawing (offered once a year)
      ART 5 Sculpture (offered every quarter)


    UPPER DIVISION AREA REQUIREMENTS--16 units

    One course in each of the following areas. Please be aware that a number of the courses below are only offered in alternate years.

    UPPER DIVISION ELECTIVES--20 units

    Five additional art history courses, upper division or higher. These may include courses among the area requirements above or any of the following:

      AHI 194H Honors thesis (recommended to students with a GPA of 3.7 in the major)
