Circa 300 in total--the majority in professional journals and about 100 as books and other separate printings of catalogues and monographs, dealing with ancient to contemporary art in various media in Greek, Roman, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern painting, architecture, sculpture, art theory, criticism and collecting, as well as more particular subjects and topics such as Lysippos, Polykleitos, Pergamene collecting and site planning, Laocoon restorations, Michelangelo, Carracci, Bernini, Cavaceppi, Winckelmann, J.L. David, Blake, Merz, Manet, Duchamp, and California Beat artists and galleries. Selected bibliographies of my publications appear in the collections of my essays Antiquity Restored (Vienna, 1990) and Art and Imago (London, 1997).
